Here at Sawmills Farm, we don’t just have our Caravan and Campsite pitches. Just down the road is a luxury cottage that is also available for holiday let, The Old Dairy.
We undertook restoration of The Old Dairy in 2016, changing it from a shell of an unused building into the beautiful cottage that stands there today.
Before & After
Atmospheric
Built in around 1850, the building was originally a milking parlour, later being repurposed as a barn. It stood unloved for years at the edge of our land, before we committed to restoring it to its former beauty.
The traditional brick and flint facing has been restored to its atmospheric origins. Inside, we have left the vaulted ceilings and original oak beams. The wood burner adds to the cozy old world atmosphere.
Modern Facilities
Bringing the Old Dairy into the 21st Century, it has all the mod-cons you could need! WiFi thoughout, smart TV – even a hot tub! The fully equipped kitchen (including dishwasher, and washing machine) is large and spacious – but if you want too cook outside then feel free to use the barbecue.
The large, private garden also has a seating area, so you can enjoy breakfast outside on those sunnier days!
Two double bedrooms mean that four adults can comfortably stay here, but if you need a cot and high chair for a child we can provide that too. Both bedrooms are en-suite, complete with toilet, sink, heated towel rail, and double headed shower. The master bathroom also has a large bath, and cozy underfloor heating.
On site parking means you don’t have far to go to move your belongings from car to room – it is literally just outside.
We provide all towels and bedding, plus some robes so you can snuggle comfortably after being in the hot tub! There is also essentials such as soap, body wash, dishwasher tablets etc – everything you would need to stay comfortably. The kitchen store cupboard is stocked with herbs and spices, sauces and staples, and we also provide a small welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk, butter, eggs, and fresh bread from the local bakery.
Our Location
We are in a prime location – quiet enough for you to relax but close to lots of wonderful attractions. The Old Dairy is secluded and private, with only a handful of detached houses nearby. It lies on acres of lush green land, peaceful and a haven for wildlife. Hedgehogs, foxes, and even deer live close by – and the local wild pheasants can often be seen running up and down the road to get to the cottage!
We are situated at the edge of Westbourne, just two miles from Emsworth. Plenty of local amenities are within walking and driving distance.
In the wider area, we are just seven miles from the beautiful city of Chichester, well worth a visit for its historic attractions and shopping facilities. Beaches in every direction, including Hayling Island and West Wittering, both stunning areas. The city of Portsmouth is just a short drive away, which includes the Historic Dockyards and plenty of other stunning sights, plus of course another beach. You could also catch the hovercraft over to the Isle of Wight – a wonderful day out!
